This tea is grown in one of the best tea gardens in the western parts of Sri Lanka. Lovers Leap tea has a medium body which infuses a flavorful cup with piquant Ceylon character. When you pour boiling water on this tea, notice how the leaf uncurls and expands quite dramatically- a process called "the agony of the leaf" It is best to take this tea in the morning or after dinner.
How to Brew
Steep for 3-5 minutes @190-209 degrees
HOT TEA:
Bring freshly drawn cold water to a rolling boil. Place 1 tsp of tea for each cup into tea pot. Add boiling water. Cover and let steep for 3-7 minutes. Add milk and sugar to taste. Acceptable to consume 'straight up'
ICED TEA:( 1qr/ltr)
Place 6 tsp of tea in a heat resistant pitcher. Add 1/14 cups freshly boiled water. Steep 5min. fill the serving pitcher 1/4 way with ice water. Add steeped tea and fill with ice water. Garnish to sweeten. (note: Top quality tea may cloud when iced ( its ok) due to their naturally high flavonoid polyphenols levels) Enjoy!
Fun Facts
Lovers leap gets its name because it is situates on the estate in a cliff where lovers would throw themselves over if they were jilted of they were not allowed to marry one another. The best weather for producing this high quality tea is highlighted by cool nights, dry weather and bright sunny days. These conditions force the tea bush to expend all its energies into the new growth leaves giving the tea its best flavor.
